You must first connect with your audience
before you present

Like a stage performer consider how you can
touch the audience beyond the footlights.

In the past stage actors would have to project their voice to be heard by audience members sitting in the rafters.
Also, having to use broad gestures for the entire audience to see and follow along.
While in the mediums of film and television
gestures are much more subtle
allowing for micro-gestures in and around the face
in order to convey feelings and emotions.
Knowing which medium you are communicating
through and how to reach your audience is important.
